Fellows

Fashion Circuit Fellowship Program

The Fashion Circuit Fellowship is a one-of-a-kind program designed to empower the next generation of fashion creatives. Open to individuals ages 15 and up, the fellowship provides hands-on experience in the fashion industry by pairing fellows with experienced mentors and designers leading up to our seasonal fashion shows.

What We Offer

Participants will be paired with a team, mentor, or specific area of interest—such as design, styling, modeling, production, or marketing—and will work closely with them from now until the event’s conclusion. This immersive program offers a chance to collaborate, learn, and contribute to a professional fashion show, empowering fellows with real-world skills and connections within the fashion industry.

We welcome both new and returning fellows, with a special focus on supporting our First Pillar Fellows — individuals stepping into the program to build their creative vision and gain real-world experience.

Tracks available:

   •    Design Fellows: Create your own 3-5 piece collection and participate in casting, fittings, and our fashion show. You’ll also be connected with a designer mentor from our network to help bring your pieces to life.

   •    Creative Fellows: Work behind the scenes in styling, set design, media production, and backstage operations — gaining valuable event production and creative skills.

All fellows receive weekly mentoring from our Creative Directors and leadership team while building professional experience and portfolio credits.

Fellows who complete their first season can apply to return as second-season fellows — stepping into leadership and mentoring roles to help guide new talent.

Note: As a fellow, you can’t be a model for the show. This will help regulate the flow of the show so you can choose one or the other.

A Fellowship Rooted in Creativity & Community

We believe creativity is a lifelong gift, and no one should ever stop dreaming. That’s why our program is open to students, novice designers, and young professionals looking to break into the fashion industry. We actively collaborate with educators and community organizations to ensure young creatives have access to this unique opportunity.

If a program like this had existed when we were students, we would have loved to be part of it—so this is our way of paying it forward to the communities that shaped us.

Spring 2025 Fellows

For our Spring 2025 show, we are proud to welcome twelve fellows from Waukee to Waterloo! These fellows will play a direct role in creating the show, participating in weekly assignments focused on business literacy, creative development, and networking with fashion professionals.

SewCial Impact: Fashion for a Cause

Fellows in our program don’t just gain industry experience—they also participate in our SewCial Impact Project, which integrates fashion with community engagement. Through this initiative, fellows collaborate on projects that use fashion as a tool for social good, whether it’s sustainability efforts, workshops for aspiring creatives, or outreach programs that make fashion more accessible to underrepresented communities.

Stay Connected

  • Brian Ibarra

    SS25 Design Fellow

Yo, I go by Brian, and I'm currently a sophomore at Iowa State University studying architecture with plans to minor in sustainability. To me architecture is not just about designing buildings, I want to use architecture to create spaces that are inclusive, affordable, and nuanced spaces that allow people to fully express themselves. Architecture has shown me how environments shape our experiences, but fashion has shown me how I've shaped and expressed who I am.

Growing up, I rocked neon gym clothes, LeBron's, and colored socks pulled up to my knees- style was never something I took lightly (sarcasm). As years passed, my Chicano background, love for learning about different cultures, skating, creating art, and listening to music all shaped the way I view clothing. I began to understand that individuality is one of the most important things we all carry, and clothes are one of the strongest ways to tell that story.

Whether it's sewing, selling and styling clothes on depop, or styling fits in my room, I've tried to make fashion feel personal. This passion for expressing identity through clothes is what drives me to create and what has led me to the Fashion Circuit Fellowship. My friend and I are working on bringing our own clothing brand into the world, one that celebrates the beauty in self-expression, cultural roots, and pushes creative boundaries. This fellowship is a step toward that vision, and I'm excited to contribute to the future of fashion in Des Moines.

  • Brody Carroll

    SS25 Design Fellow

Brody Carroll is the 15-year-old founder and creative mind behind Unusvia, a growing clothing brand rooted in purpose and individuality. Originally launched under the name WatchYourBag, Brody’s journey began with two successful drops—hoodies and t-shirts—that gave him his first taste of entrepreneurship. But it wasn’t just about fashion; it was about finding a message that mattered.

That mission became clear with the rebrand to Unusvia, which means “one path” in Latin. The name reflects Brody’s belief in staying true to your unique journey, even when the road gets tough. As a young designer doing everything independently, Brody hopes Unusvia can inspire others—especially youth—to keep pushing forward on their own path, no matter the obstacles.

Brody is eager to continue developing his brand and learning more about design, promotion, and marketing. He’s especially excited about the opportunity to collaborate with other creatives—models, photographers, and fellow designers—and grow not only his business, but his community as well.

  • Coral Zimmer

    SS25 Design Fellow

Trash to treasure is the name of the game. For Coral, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword. With garments crafted from recycled material, proving that style and sustainability can walk hand in hand. The mission is to shift the fashion scene toward a more eco-conscious future, one thoughtfully designed look at a time. Every piece is a testament to intentional design, where quality construction and refined finishes take center stage. Built to last, the garments are made to last, resisting the throwaway culture of fast fashion in favor of durability. Welcome to a new era of design where waste becomes fashion and the earth thanks you for it.
